Bandh affects Chandel district

Chandel: The 48 hours bandh called by Naga Chief Association and Kuki Chief Association in Chandel district, regarding the non payment of wages under MGNREGS 2015-2017, crippled many areas of the district today.

Chandel: The Naga Chief Association and Kuki Chief Association held a meeting at Zion village authority office on September 22 and have decided to call a complete 48 hours total bandh of Chandel district from the midnight of September 25 to the midnight of September 27.

The representatives of JAC against the physical assault of a weightlifter, Oinam Sports Association and various CSOs led by JAC convenor Mutum Roma Devi, jointly called off the indefinite bandh called at Tiddim road, after a negotiation was reached between them and the Regional Director of Sports Authority of India (NERC), Takyelpat Francis Marwein today.

With the State Government failing to produce the killer/s of H Priyokumar who was found dead hanging from a tree on May 26 at Waithou Golai Tanjeng Chingthak, the JAC formed in connection with the death of the young man has decided to go ahead with the proposed 48 hours general strike from midnight of today. The bandh will be in force till midnight of May 31, said the JAC in a statement.
