Bishnupur: Winner of the recently held, All India Painting Competition at Noida, Yumkhaibam Samir Singh was felicitated today at community hall, Moirang, Kokilbon Leikai, Bishnupur district.
Bishnupur: Moirang Block Congress Committee observed a two minute silence and expressed condolence over the demised of its former leader Oinam Mani Singh.
Oinam Mani Singh was a resident of Sunushiphai under Phubala Gram Panchayat. He joined the Congress party in 1952 and was an active member/leader of the party.
Ex-MLA M Prithviraj Singh, president Moirang Block Congress Committee, Md Saukat Ali, secretary M Sarat Singh and many other party members visited the bereaved family and expressed their condolences.
Oinam Mani Singh was 94 years old.

Bishnupur: Bishnupur district forest department today seized five bird traps from different places in and around Loktak Lake. The drive which was conducted under the supervision of S Ratankumar, Bishnupur Forest Range Officer and Md Talib, Deputy Forest Ranger was joined by volunteers of various organizations namely Toublu Youth development Association, Toubul, Global Science Centre Khoijum, Oinam Municipal Council and Oinam Grazing Ground Development Committee.

Moirang A/C MLA, P Sharatchandra Singh, Art and Culture Manipur, Director, Dr K Sushila Devi and Moirang College Political Science Department Head, Professor Y Modhu Singh attended the event as the chief guest, president and the resource persons respectively.
The chief guest and the president unveiled dioramas of Netaji Subhaschandra Bose as a part of the event.
Speaking at the event, P Sharatchandra said that if the present day leaders are were like the past patriots of Manipur, the State would not have been in such a backward and deprived condition.
On the other hand, Dr K Sushila Devi said that as the important day falls on Ningol Chakkouba which is also one of the biggest festivals of Manipur, necessary steps will be discussed with those concerned to shift the date of the Arzi Huqumat-E-Azad Hind event.
Bishnupur: The JAC, formed against the death of Naorem ongbi Premila Devi on October 5, has warned to call a total shut down of Bishnupur district from October 23, if the authority concerned fails to find out the cause of death of the deceased by October 22.
