Bishnupur: A felicitation programme for the candidates who were elected as Pradhan and Ward Members for three Gram Panchayats under Moirang Kendra, in the 5th Panchayat General election held on October 7, was organised at Moirang Philem Leikai today.

Club urges

Bishnupur: A cleanliness drive, in connection with Swachhta Pakhwada, was organised by members of Mairembam Leikai Youth Club (MLYC) and women organisation at areas covered by the club, conveyed a press release issued by secretary of MLYC.

Bishnupur: In connection with the counting of votes for the 5th General Panchayat Election which will be held tomorrow from 8 am in all polling stations of Bishnupur district, the District Magistrate of Bishnupur, Bobby Waikhom has imposed Section 144 CrPC at various areas of Bishnupur district namely from Block Lamkhai to New Mini Secretariat gate, Nachou Chingdong, Tiddim road and Nachou Panthong and Loyola School gate.

Voluntary blood donation camp

Bishnupur: Voluntary blood donation followed by an awareness programme was conducted at the Institute of District Educational Teacher’s Training (IDETT), Bishnupur today.
A press release issued by course coordinator of IDETT stated that the event was jointly organised by staff and trainees of IDETT, Red Ribbon Club of TYDA, Thoubal and Blood Banks and Transfusion Unit, JNIMS, Porompat, Imphal.
38 volunteers donated their blood and the team of JNIMS was headed by MO in-charge of JNIMS Blood Banks and Transfusion Unit, Dr K Surjit Singh.

Awareness programme

Bishnupur: Lions Club of Moirang and Lions international District 332-D organised a one day awareness programme , as a part of Swachh Bharat mission, at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School today.

Bishnupur: Manipur Terrier Company Operating Base, Ningthoukhong, Ningthoukhong Municipal Council and Asian Hospital Kwakeithel, organised a one day free medical camp at Ningthoukhong bazar community hall.
Seven specialist doctors ( medicine, gynaecology, surgery, urology, neurology, orthopedics and paediatrics) of Asian Hospital and 13 staff, took part in the free medical camp which saw more than 600 people coming for treatment.
Free medicines were also provided at the camp and free tests were also done for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, sugar and HIV, at the camp.
The doctors also pointed out that people found with any ailments will be given recommendations and referred to the concerned hospitals for further possible treatments.
According to Ningthoukhong Municipal Council Chairperson, K Mani Singh, the free medical camp has been organised for the well being of the people and more free medical camps will be organised in the near future.

Bishnupur: The Kumbi College has expressed condolence at the sudden demise of Kumbi College Governing Body member and non teaching staff of Kumbi Government High School, Wahengbam Ingocha Singh of Kumbi Mayai Leikai.
A two minute silence was observed at Kumbi College auditorium as a mark of respect for the departed soul.

Bishnupur: One of the most important road and connectivity in the State, Tiddim road (NH 105) is in a deplorable state and several portions of the road has worsened in the past few months.

Cycle rally held

Bishnupur: MLA of Thanga AC as well as PDA Chairman Tongbram Robindro Singh flagged off a cycle rally from Nimai Panjeng near Khordak dam today, in view of the ongoing 62nd wildlife week celebration.
The rally, which comprised of 200 people, was held at Keibul Lamjao and its surrounding areas.
Forest Department Manipur, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun and Sangai Protection Forum joined hands and conducted the rally which concluded at Keibul Lamjao Ima Phouoibi community hall.
PDA Chairman, T Robindro Singh, Deputy Conservator of Forest Park and Sanctuary, Arun RS, Deputy Conservator of Forest Headquarters park and Sanctuary Administration Longjam Ajita, Wildlife Institute of India members and Sangai Protection Forum members attended the flagging off ceremony.

Fish fingerlings released

Bishnupur: PDA Chairman T Robindro along with Fisheries Department released varieties of fingerlings at Loktak lake as a part of the ongoing 28th Loktak lake festival at Thanga Houreng Chingyang today.
A total of 5 lakh fishes were released today, reports our correspondent.
Former Minister H Sanayaima Singh, district Fishery Officer T Somananda Singh and other Fisheries Department officials attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, T Robindro stated that the fishes were released in order to mark the annual celebration of Loktak lake and also with an aim to increase the number of fishes in the lake. He urged all fishermen to refrain from putting nets in the released area for a while, until the fishes grow big .

Bishnupur: The 62nd Wildlife week celebration organised by Bishnupur Forest Division with the theme ‘Celebrating Rights of Wildlife’ concluded today in which nearly 300 students from various schools and colleges under Moirang participated.
