He urged those students who could not get through the examination to work hard and put in more efforts without losing heart.
Chandel: Lamkang Literature Society (LLS) and Lamkang Naga Kver Kunpun (LNKK) jointly organised ‘Culture Day’ at P Ralringkhu village, Chandel district.

Chandel: The JAC for Prime Minister Employment Generation (PMEG) programme, Chandel district has stated that the State bank of India (SBI), Chandel branch and SBI , Kangsang branch have not released the fund meant for KVIC/ KVIB/DIC beneficiaries under PMEG, conveyed a press release issued by chairman of the JAC.
The JAC has demanded the bank branches to answer for neglecting their duties and responsibilities and urged the Minister and the department concerned to take up necessary steps for the beneficiaries at the earliest.
Chandel: A JAC formed against the killing of Nengneikim Haokip alias Shila Haokip and Kaikholen Tuboi who were found dead at Moltinchan and Khumjang village has set an ultimatum to intensify their agitation if the State Government fails to produce the culprit(s) involved in the killing within 48 hours.
Speaking to media persons today at new Molbem village in Chandel district, secretary of the JAC stated that the protest against the killing of the duo was called off after signing an MoU with the State Government on May 6 but the State Government has failed to book the culprit (s) till date.
The JAC has also urged the State Government to replace the present investigating officer and also appealed the authority concerned not to tamper with the post mortem report.
Chandel: The Joint Teachers’ Association (JTA) has condoled the death of BD Kanshel who was a primary teacher of Leingangching Junior High School, Chandel district, conveyed a press release issued by secretary of JTA, Chandel.
Chandel: Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) Chandel branch observed 197th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale at the conference hall of Chandel district hospital today.
Local TNAI president Th Leadmila Mongsang presided the function.
Chandel: A programme on career guidance and counselling for class X and above candidates was held today at Anallon Christian Institute, Lambung Chandel. The programme was organised by ACI where 300 students from different schools in Chandel attended.
Chandel: District Immunisation Officer, Chandel Dr Lakshmi Thumlip has informed that the fourth round of the fourth phase of ‘Mission Indradhanush’ will begin from May 17 and will continue till May 23.
She stated that 1259 beneficiaries have been immunized where a total of 255 session sites were covered in the third round of the fourth phase.
Chandel: A man identified as K PR Kom (56) of Tonsen village, Chandel was attacked with a knife by two persons yesterday morning.
Speaking to media persons today, PR Kom stated that he is a simple man who earns by selling charcoal while residing at Beru Khudam, Chandel district.
He said that he returned home on May 9 and two persons of the same village identified as K Nembart Kom (46) and his nephew K Stallon (19) attacked him with a knife when he went to Nembart’s house to sell an axe head.
He was taken to Nembart’s kitchen and attacked with a knife, he added.
Later he came to know that, PR Kom’s brother and Nembart had a history regarding power struggle for the seat of village chief.
Since he was not aware of the history between the two, he simply went to sell his axe head, he claimed.
He was admitted to Sugnu CHC but was taken to RIMS since his condition was critical.
He urged the authority concerned to punish the culprits and appealed not to repeat such acts in the future.
A complaint was filed at Sugnu police station.
