IMPHAL, Dec 6:The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) Thoubal District Council has sought immediate attention of the State Government in fulfilling the needs and requirements of three Colleges in Thoubal including Thoubal College, YK College and Waikhom Mani Girls College.

IMPHAL, Nov 29: Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) will be presenting “Chingu Maichou Khongnangthaba Khonga” award 2017 to a deserving teacher.
The award will be presented on the occasion of 16th foundation day of the students’ body to be held on January 3, 2018, said a press release of DESAM.

IMPHAL, Sep 10: Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) have appealed to the State Government to look into the deplorable conditions of the schools and colleges which are located in the interiors of the State.

IMPHAL, Sep 6: Observing that different types of plastics being used in the State poses a threat not only to human health but also to the environment, Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) declared that it would start banning plastic items procured from outside mainly from Myanmar.

Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has strongly condemned the reported rape of a 15-year old girl near Viewland Colony, Senapati.
In a statement, DESAM conveyed readiness of its volunteers to donate required amount of blood to the victim girl who has been treated at Raj Medicity.
The students’ body has also urged the Government to extend possible help to the victim girl. DESAM further demanded fitting punishment of the perpetrators, saying that instances of crimes against women are on the rise due to reported absence of punishment to the perpetrators.

IMPHAL, Aug 2: Strongly denouncing the reported inclusion of a ‘non-local’ in the list of students recommended to pursue MBBS course through State quota, volunteers of Democratic Students’ Alliance, Manipur (DESAM) today stormed the Medical Directorate located at Lamphelpat demanding the removal of the ‘non-local’ from the list of students recommended for MBBS course in State quota.

IMPHAL, Jul 17: Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM), under the supervision of organisation secretary and coordination, E Mushuk Meitei, inaugurated four units of the students’ body in different parts of the State today, namely Nambul Mapal unit council, Sawombung unit council, Nambol unit council and Kakching unit council.
A press release issued by the secretary publicity and propaganda of DESAM stated that Huirongbam Monica Chanu, Khoirakpam Olivia and Thokchom Barlin have been elected as the president, vice president and general secretary of Nambul Mapal unit council while Lairenlakpam Sophia Chanu, Ahanthem Bungcha Meitei and Jojo Sanasam have been elected as the president, vice president and general secretary of Sawombung unit council.
L Robinson Singh, T Chingkheinganba and K Bidyasagar have been elected as the president, vice president and general secretary of Nambol unit council while Jhaljit Yengkhom, Th Premchandra and Ksh Kahrin have been selected as the president, vice president and general secretary of Kakching unit council, it added.

DESAM will be organising a motorcycle rally from THAU ground to Khuman Lampak Main Stadium under the theme ‘Make education a disturbance free zone’, on July 5.
A press release issued today by the secretary, education and academic affairs of DESAM, further condemned the killing of Haokip Student’s Union president by unidentified miscreants and also appealed to the KSO to relax its indefinite bandh, called in connection with the incident, for the rally.
