10th Loktak Trophy MTFC, GDC romp to easy wins

IMPHAL, May 24: MTFC and GDC, Thinungei eased to easy wins against their respective opponents today in the ongoing 10th Loktak Trophy organised by AMOFA under the sponsorship of NHPC, Loktak at Moirang Multipurpose Hr Sec school ground, Moirang.
In the first encounter of the day, MTFC romped to a 2-0 victory over KPFC, Potshangbam.
A goal each by L Ibotomba (33′) and Naocha (36′) proved enough for MTFC to register a win over KPFC.
In another encounter, GDC, Thinungei registered an overwhelming 4-1 win over TYDA, Toubul.
Bipul did the star turn for GDC as he grabbed a treble while Boyai contributed one in the team’s win today.
Right from the first whistle, GDC were in control of the match and Bipul handed the team the lead in the 9th minute.
Boyai doubled the lead for the team in the 25th minute while Bipul struck his second in the 42nd minute.
TYDA pulled one back through Kisan in the 51st minute. However, in-form Bipul booted home another goal in the 58th minute to make it 4-1.

District Subroto Mukherjee football in Ukhrul

Imphal, May 24: The Ukhrul District-Level Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament 2017 will be held from June 10 to 17 at the Tangkhul Naga Long Ground and Paksi Ground for the U-14 and U-17 boys and U-17 girls, under the aegis of the District Youth Affairs and Sports Office Ukhrul.
Interested schools and students must submit the entry form, available at the DYAS Office, Ukhrul by June 5. Medical check-up will be held on June 10 and 12 at the same office.
For U-14, players should be born on or after January1, 2004, and for U-17 boys and girls, they should be born on or after January 1, 2001.

AIFF Women’s Competition

Imphal, May 24: The All India Football Federation has announced the tentative schedules for women’s competitions of the 2017–18 season, a statement released by the All Manipur Football Association said.
The Junior National Football Championship will be held from July 1 to 24. The statement added that players should be born between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2003.
The Sub-Junior National Football Championship will be held from November 1 to 24 and interested players must be born between June 1, 2003 and December 31, 2005.
The 23rd Senior National Football Championship will be held from December 1 to 24.

Junior girls’ football

Imphal, May 24: The 17th Junior Girls’ Inter-District Football Tournament 2017 will begin from June 7, a statement by the organiser , the All Manipur Fotball Association said.
The last date of entry—with a fee of Rs 1,000—is June 2 and the managers’ meeting will be held on June 5 at AMFA office at 1pm. Players born between January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2003 are eligible for the tournament. As proofs of documents, interested teams should submit original birth certificates by June 4.

RKFD Sangai Trophy TBSFA set up summit clash with FC Imphal

IMPHAL, May 23: FC Imphal, Kwakeithel and TBSFA, Taobungkhok botched contrasting wins against their respective opponents today to enter the final of the ongoing 1st RKFD Sangai Trophy held under the auspices of All Manipur United Veteran Football Association.
In today’s first semi-final encounter, FC Imphal, Kwakeithel came from behind to romp to an easy 7-1 victory over MUSA, Majorkhul.
MUSA made an impressive start as Ingobi booted home the opener in just two minutes into the game. However, Khamba of FC Imphal restored parity in the 12th minute.
Later, FC Imphal exhibited their prowess as Krishna (21′, 34′, and 37′), Itocha (28′), Dhamu (44′) and Ojit (55′) of FC Imphal struck to propel the team to the final.
Even as MUSA forwards made attempts to score more goals, FC Imphal defenders stood firm to thwart any danger posed by them.
In the second semi-final clash, TBSFA, Taobungkhok eked out a slender 1-0 win over VSAI-B, Thangmeiband.
A second half goal by N Uttam proved enough for TBSFA to enter the final. The two sides made a cagey start. Although both teams showed eagerness to break the deadlock, none of them could make any breakthrough in the first half.
After the barren first half, the two sides made frantic efforts trying to create chances and intensifying their attacks. TBSFA were lucky to breach the defence line of their rivals as N Uttam booted home a goal in the 53rd minute. The goal eventually took the team to the final.
FC Imphal and TBSFA will play the final match on June 4.

IWDFA super league

IMPHAL, May 17: Imphal West District Football Association will conduct the 18th S Birendra Singh Memorial Super Division football league 2017, the 24th L Sangita Devi Memorial 1st division football league and 14th L Sunitibala Devi memorial senior women’s football league 2017 from June 20.
According to a IWDFA statement, managers’ meeting of the tournament will be held on June 11 at 2.30 pm at IWDFA office.

Chajing FC beat Eimi FC to claim Challenge Cup title

Imphal, May 16: Two goals in the second half saw Chajing FC coming from behind to beat Eimi FC in final match of the 19th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament 2017 at the Eleven Star Sporting Union Ground, Akampat today.
In the keenly contested final match today, both sides made a cagey start. Eimi FC took an early lead as Jangminlen struck one in the 4th minute.
It was presumed that the Eimi veterans had tamed their rivals as Chajing FC could not find the equaliser throughout the first half.
However, Chajing FC made an unprecedented surge in the second half and mounted more pressure on Eimi FC defence line. Their frenetic efforts paid dividends as W Mohon found the back of Eimi FC’s net in the 31st minute and restored parity.
The match became more intensified as both sides pushed harder to find the winner. After series of raids and counter-raids against each others’ territories, Chajing FC managed to pull off an upset for Eimi FC as N Sagar struck the winner for his team in the 53rd minute.
Undaunted Eimi FC forwards made a last ditch attempt for about 6 minutes before the end of the regulation time. However, Chajing FC defenders stood firm to thwart any danger against the onslaught of their rivals’ attackers.
The winners, Chajing FC walked away richer by Rs 50,000 along with a rolling trophy while the runners up got Rs 30,000 along with a rolling trophy.
An individual prize of Rs 3000 each was also presented to the winners during the prize distribution ceremony.
Thangjamang of Eimi FC was adjudged the best goalkeeper while Napolean of Eimi FC won the best defender award.
The best midfielder award was presented to S Budha of Chajing FC and Jangminlen of Eimi FC was not only adjudged the best striker, but also won the top scorer award. W Mohon of Chajing FC was declared the most valuable player while the best player award went to Kh Sanaton of Chajing FC.
The fair play award was given to SHDSVA, Sadar Hills.

10th Loktak Trophy GDC blank AMOFA

IMPHAL, May 16: GDC, Thinungei eased to a 3-0 win over AMOFA, Moirang today in the 10th Loktak Trophy organised by AMOFA under the sponsorship of NHPC, Loktak at Moirang Multipurpose Hr Sec school ground, Moirang.
Right from the start, GDC were in control of the match. L Bikram handed the lead to GDC in the 34th minute.
L Sunder doubled the lead in the 38th minute while Peter sealed the team’s victory in the 48th minute.
Even as AMOFA show all eagerness to find the equalisers, their strikers failed to breach the strong defence line of GDC.
Meanwhile, the scheduled match between YADA and TYDA today was postponed due to heavy rain.
In the opening match of the tournament yesterday, MTFC eked out a hard fought 4-3 win over Moirang Part-2 while another league match saw AMOFA Academy and KPFC tied 1-1.

Sangai Trophy ATVFA get walkover, MUSA cruise

Imphal, May 12: In the first group B match of the 1st RKFD Sangai Trophy, ATVFA Thangmeiband got walkover as its opponent UVSA Lilong did not turn up for the match in the tournament held at Th Birchandra Football Academy, Tabungkhok.
Meanwhile, in the last match of the group, MUSA Majorkhul defeated IEVFA (B) Salanthong by 3–1.
IEVFA(B) took off first as Basanta scored a goal in the 16th minute but completely failed to block the counter-attack of the Majorkhul team.
MUSA’s Sanatomba struck first in the 35th minute and Ingobi followed soon with another goal in the 40th minute. Siehlam ended the assault with the third goal during the extra time.
In the group C league match tomorrow, TBSFA, Tabungkhok will take on LAGSA, Sugnu at 2:15pm and in group D’s, IVFA, Canchipur will clash with TRVSA, Malom at 3:30pm.
