Students storm ZEO office

Jiribam: Students along with their parents of Lambasorok Government Junior Higher Secondary School, Jiribam stormed the ZEO office in Jiribam today.
Condemning the transfer of teachers from the school, various slogans and placards were raised demanding the authority concerned to refrain from destroying the academic atmosphere of the school.
ZEO, Jiribam assured the students and the parents that he will take up every necessary action to solve the matter.
A memorandum was also submitted to him, reports our correspondent.

Training prog begins

Jiribam: A ten-day training programme on ‘Kouna Mat Making’ began today at Sanamahi Laishang Irum Shanglen Lairembi Leirak, Jiribam, reports our correspondent The programme was organised by Jiri Development Organisation (JDO), Jiribam and co-sponsored by Relief Foundation for the Destitute (RFD), Imphal and Senmitlon Sintha Chaokhat Lup (SSCL), Jiribam.
Jiribam Municipal Council Chairperson E Ashalata Devi, Jiri Development Organisation president M Hemanta, Branch Manager of UBI, Jiribam Yumlembam Sanalemba Singh and Relief Foundation for the Destitute (RFD), Imphal general secretary W Nilamani Singh attended the training programme as dignitaries.
Altogether 30 trainees participated in the programme.

AJPDC submits memorandum

Jiribam: Some members of All Jiribam Peace and Development Committee (AJPDC) today met Jiribam MLA and Parliamentary Secretary MOBC, Industry and Commerce Md Ashab Uddin at Babupara, conveyed a press release issued by general secretary of AJPDC.
The meeting discussed various key points for the welfare and development of Jiribam district and a memorandum containing 19 points was submitted, it stated.
It also stated that the MLA responded positively assuring to provide all necessary steps by discussing the matter with the Department concerned.

Union formed

Jiribam : A “Government Employees’ Union” for all the Government employees residing in Jiribam was formed today at the office of All Manipur Elementary School Teachers’ Association (AMESTA), Jiribam branch.
Among the 11 newly elected executive members of the Union, M Prabin Singh was elected as president, RC Das and L Rajen Kumar Singh as vice presidents and Sarat Thokchom as general secretary.

157th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore celebrated

Jiribam: Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Assam Lakhipur branch , Manipur Short Story Society India along with Khorirol Lakhipur Lup jointly organised the 157th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at Khorirol Library hall today.
Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam Lakhipur branch president Naorem Kullajit and Manipur Short Story Society India vice-president Sarat Thokchom attended the celebration as dignitaries.
During the ceremony, four popular authors recited four essays about Rabindranath Tagore namely ‘The untold story of Rabindranath’ by Ingudam Satishchandra, ‘Lai Yekpa ama oina Rabindranath’ by Longjam Gopendro, ‘Rabindranath ki Geetanjali da meeyeng ama’ by Moirangthem Sobita and ‘Rabindranath and Manipur’ by Thokchom Biswanath.

Madrasa & Maktab of Jiribam inspected

Jiribam: Under the instruction of Parliamentary Secretary (MOBC and Commerce and Industry) the Director of Education (S) Nodal Officer (Minority Cell) Md Rahman and coordinator Md Abung inspected Madrasa and Maktab of Jiribam along with Madrasa committee.
The inspection was conducted for the implementation of the Central Government’s scheme for providing quality education in schools. The officials visited Al- Madinatul Banat, Kashimpur, Madrasa Alia of Kashimpur and Darul uloom Madrasa, Sonapur.

Minister inspects

Jiribam: The Progeny Orchard Nursery farm formerly known as Cashew nut Development farm has not been functioning for a long time. This was stated by MAHUD and Town Planning Minister Th Shyamkumar during an inspection at Bidyanagar, Jiribam. Speaking to media persons, he said that the Government owned farm has remained defunct due to lack of proper management and care despite the funds sanctioned by the State Government.
Poor organisational system caused by low manpower/ labourers has obstructed the hiring of sufficient labourers and increase in revenue, he added. Apart from the Minister, various officials of the Departments concerned also took part in the inspection where the Minister assured to take every necessary step to generate revenue and proper functioning of the farm.

JAC formed

Jiribam:A public meeting was held yesterday at Chingdong Leikai, Jiribam for not issuing appointment orders for various Anganwadi posts which were selected under ICDS office, Jiribam.
A JAC was also formed at the meeting where the committee decided to launch a series of agitation if the appointment orders for the posts (Anganwadi worker, mini worker, Anganwadi helper and vacant Anganwadi worker) are not issued before May 10 by CDPO of ICDS, Jiribam.
