Defamation suit

Taking strong exception to the ‘concocted’ allegations levelled against him regarding distribution of PDS rice under National Food Security Act, MLA of Lilong AC Md Abdul Nasir declared that defamation suit will be filed against those groups who made the allegations.
Addressing a press meet held at his official residence at Babupara today, the MLA clarified that distribution of subsidised PDS rice under the Act is managed by officials concerned of the Department.
He said that any MLA cannot interfere in distribution of PDS rice as per the rules of the Act.
He rebuffed the allegations made by some groups through media that there has been no distribution of subsidised PDS rice in Lilong area.
“As the allegations were made to reap political mileage and tarnish my image, defamation suit will be filed against the groups,” the MLA declared.
He appealed to media houses to verify such serious allegations before publishing it.
MLA Abdul Nasir added that he will pay inspection visit to the areas of Lilong to ascertain whether PDS rice is properly distributed or not.

MLA Brojen assures

Thoubal: All the roads and driveways in Wangjing Tentha AC will be broadened by not less than 20 feet, said MLA of the AC Paonam Brojen and added that Wangjing Tentha will emerge as the only AC to have 20 feet broad road among the 60 ACs of Manipur.
This was stated during a felicitation cum prize distribution ceremony (9th Yaoshang Sports meet) organised by Friends’ Union Club at Wangjing Tekcham Leikai where he attended as chief guest .
Roads under Wangjing Landing Municipal Council were expanded 20 feet each last year, the MLA stated.
Seeking cooperation from the people, he assured to expand all the roads under Wangjing AC Gram Panchayat during his present term.

Politicians who cannot fulfil people’s needs are not fit to be leaders

IMPHAL, May 20: Congress MLA Govindas Konthoujam has said that politicians who cannot fulfil the needs of the people are not fit to be leaders.
He made the statement at a  meeting organised by Bishnupur Assembly Youth Congress Committee as a part of the 26th Death Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, at Bishnupur Block Youth Congress office today. Speaking at the meeting, Govindas stressed on the contributions of the late Rajiv Gandhi to the Nation including development in the field of information technology, reduction of legal voting age from 21 to 18 years etc. He also expressed disappointment that Congress Bhawan was full of people when the Congress party was in power but only a few can be seen now. Bishnupur Block Congress Committee president Ch Ibotombi, MPYCC president Amir Hussain and Inner Lok Sabha Youth Congress Committee president E Dayananda were also present at the meeting.

MLA inspects

Bishnupur: MLA of Moirang AC P Saratchandra along with officials today inspected many health care centre located in Moirang AC including Moirang Community Health Care Centre, Kwakta Primary Health Care Centre, Tronglaobi Primary Health Sub Centre and Phubala Primary Health Sub Centre.
During his visit to Moirang Community Health Center, he found many irregularities namely lack of proper toilet facilities, lack of proper water facilities, presence of only seven medical officers out of 10 and absence of grade IV staff.
When he visited Kwakta Primary Health Center, he discovered the staff and the non staff of the centre functioning at the old building even though a new building was inaugurated last year.
The staff responded that besides improper loos, ceilings of the new building were not finished properly and the centre lacks many equipment.
Meanwhile, a building which is meant for Tronglaobi Primary Health Sub Center has already been completed,but a scuffle with the land owner who donated the land for the Centre has led the staff to open the Centre in a local building which also lacks many facilities.
Speaking to media persons, P Saratchandra said, “It is unfortunate that an important rural hospital like Moirang hospital which provides service to people of Bishnupur district and Chandel district has downgraded to a community health center as it lacks many equipment and facilities”.
He assured that necessary action would be taken up to provide first-class facilities and equipments to all the PHC, PHSC and CHC located in Moirang AC.

MLA, officers feted

IMPHAL, May 7 : A felicitation function was organsied by All Manipur Thanga People’s Welfare Association (AMTPWA) at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound today in honour of Thanga MLA Tongbram Robindro and candidates from the Constituency, who cleared Manipur Combined Civil Services Competitive Examinations .
The occasion was graced by MLA T Robindro who is also the Chairman of PDA as chief guest and AMTPWA president Ningthoujam Chaoba as president.
The officers who were honoured are Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Haobijam Chaoba; ADC Kangpokpi, Heisnam Balkrishna; District Fishery Officer, Bishnupur, Tongbram Shyamananda; SP Kangpokpi Heisam Balram; CMO Kamjong Dr Tongbram Manihar; CMO Kakching Dr Ningthoujam Bino; BDO Moirang, Keisham Jadumani; Tongbram Bimolchand (7th position in MCS); SDCs Heisnam Romio; Sonia Haobijam and Heisnam Rameshchandra.
The MLA and the officers were presented simple gifts.

Moirang MLA inspects

Bishnupur: Moirang AC MLA Pukhrem Saratchandra Singh along with Minor Irrigation Department Engineer H Brojendra today visited many areas of Kwakta Gram Panchayat and inspected the fields which have been damaged for double cropping due to the narrowing of streams coming from Thangjing hill.
Speaking to our correspondent, Saratchandra stated that the improper irrigation canals in Moirang AC has restricted the fields from producing ample crops/vegetables.
He said that the irrigation canals will be repaired at the earliest.

Meghachandra accuses

IMPHAL, Apr 15: Wangkhem Kendra Congress MLA Keisham Meghachandra has alleged that his workers have been harassed continuously by the workers of NEIDP candidate Y Nabachandra with even some life attempts.
Speaking to media persons at his quarters at Babupara, he alleged that workers of Nabachandra have attacked the residence of one of his worker, Thiyam Ibungo of Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Thong Ahaibi, ever since he won the election.
He claimed that at around 8 pm yesterday, the workers began attacking Ibungo’s residence by throwing rocks and destroyed the windows and glasses.
They even set afire house of another Congress worker named Warjeet, he added. Meghachandra further claimed that Nabachandra’s workers not only destroyed TV and computers at one Koijam Shyamkishore’s house but also killed all the fishes in his pond by pouring poison into it. Expressing disappointment at the lack of initiative by the police despite lodging an FIR, the MLA urged the authority concerned to take up necessary actions at the earliest.
